Cheney’s Back, Is This Good News?

Cheney’s back and Reid attacks — Dick Cheney visited Capitol Hill Tuesday and Democrats immediately pounced, accusing Cheney of being Satan. Or advocating policies to support Halliburton. One of the two. You may say the Dems were partying like its 2007, trotting out their tired Cheney clichés . TheDC’s Nicholas Ballasy reports: “Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters that former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit to Capitol Hill is intended to ‘spur’ Republicans on to oppose automatic defense cuts included in the ‘sequester,’ because of Cheney’s ties to Halliburton. ‘Vice President Cheney’s up here. We know that before he became vice president, he worked for Halliburton,’ Reid said at aTuesday press conference. ‘Halliburton did extremely well during his time as vice president, and I assume there’s going to be some concern about Halliburton again in this conversation they are going to have today.” That could be one possibility, though it doesn’t make any sense. Conversely, what if Cheney cared about an extra $500 trillion in Defense cuts because he cares about America and takes seriously President Obama’s own Secretary of Defense when he says such cuts would be “disastrous in terms of our national defense?” What a thought.
